Set in lush gardens amid forest and crystal clear waters on the slopes of Mount Meru, Ngare Sero Mountain Lodge is a wonderful place to relax and simmer in the immense beauty of East Africa. The Lodge has been adapted from an early colonial farmhouse built in the early 20th century and it is one of the oldest family lodges in Arusha.It offers only 10 garden rooms, 2 main house suites and pool cottage with 2 bedrooms, and provides personal service for its residents since 1974. Here you can spend the days amid nature, watching the changing colors of the Kilimanjaro glaciers while sipping drinks on the verandah or hiking in the forest inhabited by colobus and Sykes monkeys as well as hundreds of small animal and bird species. The Lodge is located only 30 minutes away from Kilimanjaro International Airport and Arusha town center and it is a perfect base while on safari in the northern circuit Tanzania. The Main house of the lodge was built in 1905, and it still retains many of the original features. Long colonial verandas stretch along the front of the house. Long-armed chairs provide a perfect spot from which to contemplate the awesome view of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Each are steeped in African historical artefacts of a bygone era from these two famous men who once walked around these very rocks.  Tucked away into an ancient bushman's shelter, Camp Amalinda's charm will leave an indelible impression on every visitor, it's spirituality almost tangible. Some of the most majestic granite scenery in the world is found in the Matobo Hills. It is here that the hopes, trials and tribulations of the San Bushmen are recorded in the ancient rock art.

Since 1993, when they first lost their hearts to Mozambique, Kevin and Fiona Record have invested their all into realizing their dream of establishing a truly sustainable lodge on Ibo Island as well as launching a series of brands specialising in tour operating in Mozambique. That they have achieved their first objective on Ibo Island is evidenced by the positive impact that the lodge has made to a large portion of Ibo islands population, while maintaining a respectful relationship with its ecology and heritage. Ibo Island Lodge, the lodge they had dreamt of for all these years, has been a labour of love. Not only by the founders, but by the local people of Ibo. 'When we first embarked on the rehabilitation project on Ibo we know that many people thought we had bitten off way more than we could chew! The ruins we bought whilst magnificent in potential were literally swaying in the wind… Roofs open to the sky, great chunks of coral walls collapsing around us and rampant fig tree's growing through the windows and deep into the foundations… We've re-laid those foundations, preserved original tiles, shutters, panelled doors and antique pieces we found on Ibo. We dismantled ancient ruined pillars to rebuild them again. We've cast new roofs by hand, worked with traditional lime -purchased and handmade from the islanders and employed and imparted new skills to over 140 people all from Ibo. We planted grass, flowers and over 200 trees. We have a huge responsibility on Ibo to show the local community the power that sustainable eco-tourism can have on their island, on their lives and on the lives of their children. We were not just building a lodge, we were constructing hopes and dreams for a future. Ibo Island Lodge has been a labour of love, developed with courage, passion and vision by all involved.
